A Poetry of Sanmen
三門西枕天臺，北銜寧海。海灣東北三山聳峙，天作航門，故名三門灣，縣名由此得焉。
To the east of Tiantai, to the south of Ninghai, Sanmen Town has inherited its name from Sanmen River, a river surrounded by three mountains, directing its way to the Gate of Heaven.
三門物產豐富，自古得漁鹽之利，有林礦之饒。沿海島嶼星羅，風光旖旎，蛇蟠島尤具山海之勝，洞窟之奇。湫水山匯潭瀑巖峰林泉為一體，集清幽雄秀奇險于一地。境內良港得天獨厚，孫中山先生親臨巡視，列入《建國方略》。偉人巨眼，三門何幸！
With an abundant natural storage on not only foresting, fishing and mineral material, but on famous scenes and views for great sight-seeing, such as Snake Island and its uniqueness in caves and glory in mountain and sea, Sanmen Town got the fortune of visits from large numbers of celebrities, among whom, Sun Zhongshan, while visiting this town, decidedly listed its name into “Schedule of Prosperity”.
三門歷史悠久，上古先民即耕耘漁獵于此，繁衍生息于斯。自東晉以降，人口南遷，文化交融，遂成人文薈萃之地，諸方鐘情流連之所。葛玄結茅靈鳳山下，煉九轉之丹，遺址猶存；曇猷擇地龍頭山麓，建多寶講寺，佛教遂興。梅盛歸隱丹邱，儒釋雙修，高風可仰；章梫一代名士，開創新學，教澤綿長。文天祥曾入仙巖，募兵抗元，海天長留正氣；張蒼水駐軍健跳，誓師抗清，山水永記英名。戚繼光殲寇蠣灘，衛海之功赫赫，祠碑至今堂堂。
In the biblical times, our ancestors used to struggle for their lives out of fishing and hunting. The place has not been filled with wording culture until the immigrants from North came to the blessed town with their thoughts and knowledge in Eastern Jin dynasty. Alchemy processing from Taoism is given birth on the foot of Gexuan Mountain; Buddhism starts to prosper on the top of Long Mountain. Confucius developed inside Meisheng Hill, carrying forward its decentness and far-reaching meaning. Other ideas, schools and new knowledge starts and develops in this place, such as New school idea of Zhangquan, Nationalism of Wen Tianxiang, Heroism against Racism of Zhang Cangshui, Patriotism of Qi Jiguang, and Combat doctrine of Weihai, etc..
三門灣浪卷濤飛，淘盡千古風流人物；百年來內憂外患，仁人志士宏愿難酬。前仆后繼，終成燎原之火；石破天驚，首飄浙江紅旗。轉瞬甲子，道路屢經曲折；改革開放，方顯蓬勃生機。山海田綜合開發，貿工農統籌經營。工業強縣，支柱產業撐托繁榮；海洋富縣，青蟹之鄉名揚全國。核電落戶，增添無窮動力；港城開發，喜見蛹化蝶飛。
Along with the rushing and roll of Sanmen River, great human beings passes by from generation to generation, making huge contributions to the progress of society. From the founding of PRC, to the Reform and Opening up, from the Liberation to the development, Sanmen Town has become a greatness in both constructive industry and agricultural prosperity. The destiny of developing a town through ocean products and nuclear electric power has made great difference in this place.
滾滾三門灣，沉埋幾多宏圖大愿，夢想期待。而今潮平風正，創業環境百年不遇；政通人和，發展機緣千載難逢。百姓希求平安富足，政府當重民本民生。繪就藍圖，邁入濱海經濟新時代；勵精圖治，共創三門發展新輝煌！
The water of Sanmen River is expecting a great dream. With its resolution to face a hopeful future and its harmonious cooperation of government and hard-working ordinary people, a creative time is waiting for Sanmen, to build a beautiful blueprint for a productive and glorious future!
